According to Brazil’s National Supply Company (Conab), coffee production in Brazil is expected to reach 67.6 million 60-kilogram bags in 2026, which would be a record and 19.6 per cent higher than in 2025. The forecast comes amid rising exports to China and new commercial initiatives between the two countries.

The Portugal–China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) will hold its 11th Portugal–China Gala in Estoril, Portugal, on 28 October. Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, André de Paula, and China’s Ambassador to Brazil, Zhu Qingqiao, recently signed a revision to the bilateral sanitary protocol on pork offal exports. The document expands the list of Brazilian products authorised to enter the Chinese market and creates new business opportunities for approved establishments.

China’s Ambassador to Portugal, Yang Yirui, attended the first Lisboa Dragon Boat Festival as a guest on 27 September. Organised by Dragon Boat Portugal and supported by Lisbon City Council, the festival ran from 25 to 27 September at the Oceanário dock in Parque das Nações, Lisbon. The 2026 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2026PLPEX) will take place from 21 to 24 October 2026. Under the theme “Macao: The Global Hub of Business Convergence”, this edition will bring together distinctive industries, products and services from the nine Portuguese-speaking countries.

The fourth Workshop on Understanding Chinese Modernisation opened at the Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing on 22 September. Held under the theme “Exploring Common Prosperity”, the event forms part of the 2026 China–Brazil Cultural Year and brings together representatives from the diplomatic, academic, business and media sectors of both countries, as well as university staff and students.

The University of Coimbra (UC) hosted the second edition of the Europe–China Agricultural Robotics Forum (ECARF 2026) on 25 September. The event brought together around 100 experts, researchers, technology companies, agricultural producers and public officials from Europe and China to discuss the application of robotics in agriculture.

Angola’s Agostinho Neto University (UAN) and Xiangtan University, in China’s Hunan Province, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Luanda on 23 September to strengthen professional training, scientific research and academic mobility. The agreement provides short-, medium- and long-term training opportunities for students and academic staff at both institutions.

Portuguese healthcare experts have called for broader international co-operation to deepen research into traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and other traditional practices, and to support their integration into health systems.

Cabo Verde and China signed the Framework Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development during a visit to China by Cabo Verde’s Minister of Economy, Trade, Industry and Digital Transition, António Baptista, in early September.
