Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, has said that the country is “on the verge of opening up the Chinese market to DDG”. Distillers Dried Grains (DDG) are a by-product of ethanol production, obtained from grains and used in animal feed. The statement was made during a speech at the 2nd Unem Datagro International Conference on Corn Ethanol, held on April 3 in Cuiabá (MT).

“Currently, 18 markets import our DDG, 14 of which have been opened recently, such as Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada and Vietnam,” said Fávaro. “But we're still moving forward with a major objective: to open up the Chinese market, guaranteeing even more sustainability for this sector.”

According to data released by the National Corn Ethanol Union (Unem) during the Unem Datagro Conference on Corn Ethanol, production of dried distillers grains in Brazil is expected to rise from 4.05 million tons in 2024/25 to 4.84 million tons in 2025/26.
