Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Global Inc. recently announced that it will resume its food delivery service in Brazil under the 99 Food brand, with the aim of further integrating its mobility, payment and delivery services in the country, offering users an “all in one place” experience.
Present in Brazil since 2018 with the acquisition of the 99 mobility platform, Didi has significantly expanded its operations in the country. The company currently has 50 million active users and around 700,000 delivery and driver partners in Brazil, operating in more than 3,300 cities and municipalities.
According to Didi, the resumption of the food delivery service is part of Didi's strategy to deepen its presence in the markets where it already operates, using its expertise in branding, logistics, technology, local talent and knowledge of the Brazilian market to meet a growing and diversified demand, especially in medium-sized and small cities, where the delivery sector still has ample space.
