Brazil, the world leader in coffee production and exports, is betting on the quality and sustainability of its coffee beans to continue increasing sales abroad and to conquer the promising Chinese market, which already has over 300 million consumers.
To continue growing in a global market increasingly concerned with environmental conservation, one of the main attractions is sustainable production, a segment in which Brazil is also a global leader, according to the Global Coffee Platform.
Given the growth in consumption and the advantages it offers, the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) estimates that the Chinese market could offer national producers an annual potential business generation of $886 million, considering both green and roasted coffee.
Although China ranks only 14th among the main buyers, Brazil is already its main supplier and is primarily betting on the green coffee market. According to ApexBrasil, this segment offers a market opportunity of approximately $503.8 million per year for Brazilian products.
