Entities from China and Portuguese-speaking countries recently signed 24 co-operation agreements at the Mozambique-China Cultural Centre in Maputo during the 17th Entrepreneurs Meeting for Commercial and Economic Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The agreements cover infrastructure, trade, professional services and academic co-operation. According to the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), their total value amounts to approximately US$150 million.

Luís José Machava, Director-General of the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports of Mozambique (APIEX), explained that the agreements had not yet reached the implementation phase and represent intentions to be realised through projects.

The planned initiatives include the supply of materials for prefabricated housing, the development of new energy commercial vehicles and mining consultancy services using drones, artificial intelligence and airborne geophysics. Legal, academic and business co-operation agreements were also signed between institutions from Macao and Mozambique.

The meeting, dedicated to the investment in logistics infrastructure, was co-organised by APIEX, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and IPIM.
