A delegation from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), comprising nine postgraduate students and Professor Dachamir Hotza, is taking part in an academic mission at Beihang University’s Hangzhou International Campus in China until 7 August.

The initiative forms part of the Brazil-China Programme for Leaders in Scientific and Technological Innovation, promoted by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) in partnership with the Beihang Brazil Center.

The students are taking part in courses, laboratory activities and technical visits and have been assigned to centres and laboratories according to their respective research areas. Their work covers fields including artificial intelligence, medical engineering, bio-inspired materials, industrial technologies, commercial aviation, and space and planetary sciences. Each participant is accompanied by a researcher or student from the Chinese institution.

Dachamir Hotza, co-ordinator of the UFSC proposal, highlighted that the mission provided direct contact with advanced laboratories and Chinese research teams, while contributing to the development of scientific, intercultural, communication and leadership skills.

The initiative builds on UFSC’s co-operation with Chinese institutions and is expected to facilitate new projects, joint publications, exchanges and training opportunities between Brazil and China.
