Nansen, a subsidiary of AUX Group in Brazil, recently inaugurated a transformers factory in Betim, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The facility will provide integrated solutions for the local smart electricity grid.

The new factory has an annual production capacity of 144,000 transformers and is expected to create approximately 300 direct jobs. Designed according to a smart manufacturing model, it integrates advanced terahertz-wave drying and vacuum oil-filling processes, automated inspection systems, digital management and an intelligent testing platform.

The company plans to focus on equipment for power distribution automation and products for the renewable energy sector, supporting Brazil’s energy transition. Ciro Lima, Chief Marketing Officer of Nansen, said that adapting advanced Chinese technologies to the Brazilian market would contribute to the development of the country’s smart grid.

Tian Min, Consul-General of China in Rio de Janeiro, highlighted that China was Minas Gerais’ leading trading partner and an important source of investment, emphasising the prospects for bilateral co-operation in infrastructure and energy transition.
