The China-Mozambique Youth Seminar, recently co-organized by the Mozambican Youth Organisation and the Chinese Embassy in Mozambique, brought together representatives from the Frelimo party, the Chinese Embassy in Mozambique, young people, academics and other guests. The meeting focused on the challenges facing by the new generation in building a more productive and sustainable economy.

During his remarks, Pedro Guiliche, Secretary of Frelimo Central Committee for Communication and Image and Party Spokesperson, highlighted the co-operation between Mozambique and China, describing the Asian country as a global reference in areas such as economic development, technology, education and innovation. According to the Frelimo official, China’s experience could serve as an inspiration for Mozambique’s efforts towards economic independence.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Mozambique, Zheng Xuan, emphasised that young people represented the hope and future of nations and played a fundamental role in the progress of countries. The diplomat added that youth constitutes a driving force for development and national revitalisation.

Zheng Xuan also stated that China will continue to strengthen co-operation with Mozambique, particularly through exchanges between young people from the two countries. She also considered that the deepening friendship between the two peoples depended, to a great extent, on closer ties between the younger generations.
