A delegation from the Municipality of Porto Novo in Cabo Verde is currently in Beijing, China, attending an international seminar on urban governance and Chinese modernisation for developing countries. The delegation comprises the Mayor of Porto Novo, Elisa Pinheiro, and Municipal Councillor Luís Gonzaga.

The Mayor highlighted the importance of the municipality’s participation in the seminar, which runs until 27 July, noting that the initiative is aligned with local strategic priorities, particularly administrative modernisation, the strengthening of good governance and the continuous improvement of public services.

Elisa Pinheiro also noted that the institutional mission represented an important opportunity for capacity building and the exchange of experience, as well as for identifying potential partnerships for the Municipality of Porto Novo.

The seminar brings together representatives from various developing countries to discuss topics related to urban governance, the modernisation of public administration, digital transformation, sustainable urban planning and innovation in public service delivery.
