China – Portugal (and EU) economic cooperation shows no signs of slowing down. At the Portugal-China & Europe-China Cooperation and Development Forum, which took place on February 18, opportunities between Portugal and China, on the one hand, and the European Union and China, on the other, particularly in the automotive sector, were discussed during the morning in Lisbon.

Reaching 12 billion euros at the end of last year, Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in Portugal has catapulted into double digits in recent years, with the health industry assuming increasing preponderance, highlighted Ricardo Arroja, president of AICEP, during the Forum for cooperation and development Portugal-China & Europe-China, which took place at the event. China has become the fourth largest foreign direct investor in Portugal.

China will receive five business missions from the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal (AICEP) throughout 2025, while Portugal will receive two Chinese missions. In the future, cooperation between China and Portugal will continue to deepen.
