China's ambassador to São Tomé, Xu Yingzhen, said on the 18th of December that 2023 was a fruitful year in terms of deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation ties between China and São Tomé and Príncipe.

"The end of the year is also the time when we take stock of our work for the year. This year has also been characterised by the deepening of friendship and fruitful bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and São Tomé and Príncipe," she said.

"The areas of collaboration between the two sides have been further expanded with the signing of partnership agreements in the fields of health and combating climate change, as well as Beijing's initiative on International Cooperation in the Digital Economy," the Chinese diplomat emphasised.

According to the diplomat, China (the world's second largest economy) wants to create more opportunities, strive for peace and progress in collaboration with all countries, in order to create a better future for humanity.
