Portugal’s Ministry of Education delegation visits MPU to deepen co-operation

A delegation led by Sofia Cordeiro, Subdirectorate of the Directorate-General for Studies, Planning and Evaluation of Portugal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, recently visited Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) to deepen co-operation in higher education and advanced scientific research.

 

According to an MPU statement, Rector Zhou Zhongrong presented the institution’s recent achievements in scientific research and the training of internationally oriented staff. He highlighted the strategic partnerships with Portuguese higher education institutions, particularly joint research projects and laboratories developed with the University of Coimbra.

 

The rector expressed his intention to deepen high-level scientific co-operation with institutions in Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking countries.

 

For her part, Sofia Cordeiro stressed that the Ministry values educational, scientific and technological exchanges with Macao. She explained that the visit aimed to learn about the projects and scientific research facilities, as well as student development.

 

The official also expressed the expectation of maintaining close communication between the two sides and taking advantage of Macao’s role as a platform to deepen Sino-Portuguese co-operation in higher education and scientific research.

 

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the establishment of high-level China-Portugal joint laboratories and the strengthening of academic exchanges, as well as scientific and technological innovation.
