According to Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism, the country received 113,228 Chinese tourists between January and August 2026, around 10% more than the 103,122 recorded throughout 2025. Compared with the first eight months of 2025, when 65,319 Chinese visitors arrived, this represents an increase of 73.3%.

Among the factors cited for this increase are the visa exemption, which has been in effect since May and is valid until 31 December 2026, the strengthening of bilateral relations and promotional activities for Brazilian destinations in China. The Brazil-China Cultural Year is also helping to raise the country’s visibility.

Brazil’s Tourism Minister Gustavo Feliciano highlighted preparations for a long-term strategy to position Brazil among the priority destinations for Chinese tourists, with improvements in connectivity and tourism offering.

To support this process, the Ministry created the Brazil-China Tourism Working Group, focusing on improving reception services, adapting the tourism offering and training professionals. More than 330 Brazilian agencies are already qualified to receive Chinese tourists.

The group will identify destinations, routes and products with potential, as well as obstacles and opportunities in air connectivity, mobility and infrastructure. Among the highlighted destinations are the Amazon, Foz do Iguaçu and Pantanal.

The Ministry of Tourism and Embratur have also intensified their participation in trade fairs, contacts with tour operators and airlines, and campaigns targeting the Asian market.
