In recent years, the main interest of Chinese investors in Brazil has been in strategic sectors, such as sustainable energy infrastructure and the energy transition.
According to the CEBC, Chinese investment in Brazil has been falling since 2017. Although Chinese investment in Brazil has been less voluminous in recent years, it has been advancing in the so-called “new infrastructures”, which include initiatives in areas that are at the heart of Beijing’s development plans, such as renewable energy, electric mobility, information technology, urban infrastructure and high-end manufacturing. And there are also large projects in sectors such as energy, mining and traditional infrastructure.
