The industrial manufacturing sector has gained a notable member with the inauguration of a new mosaic and tile factory in the district of Moamba, Maputo Province. This project, which was invested by China with US$ 100 million, is cited as being part of a broad government strategy to reduce dependence on imports and promote local production of construction materials.

Besides generating 300 direct jobs, the Chinese investment reinforces the growing economic partnership between Mozambique and China. In recent years, Chinese companies have played an important role in the development of infrastructure in Mozambique, and this project emphasizes the potential for collaboration between the two countries in the industrial sector. The company, Safira Moçambique Cerâmica, will not only contribute to import substitution, but will also help transform Mozambique into an industrial production hub for the region.

With this new factory, the Mozambican government hopes to take another step towards economic self-sufficiency, promoting growth in the industrial sector and creating new opportunities for regional and international trade.
