Trade between China, Portuguese-speaking Countries tops US$54.287 bln in January-March 2024

Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$54.287billion in the period from January to March 2024. It represented a 19.42 percent increase year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$35.041 billion to China in the first four months of 2024 – an increase of 23.63 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$19.246 billion in the same period, up 12.46 percent year-on-year.


The total value of merchandise traded in March between the parties topped US$16.354 billion, an increase of 1.88 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$10.512 billion, up 9.93 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$5.482 billion in March, a decrease of 9.98 percent compared with the previous year.
