This year, in addition to important launches - especially the Dolphin, which revolutionised the Brazilian market - BYD announced plans to set up a vehicle factory in Brazil. Among many negotiations, the Chinese company signed an agreement with the government of Bahia to acquire the former Ford factory.

Now, with the project already underway, the Chinese company says that the first car plant outside Asia will generate around 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. The brand had already announced an investment in the order of R$3 billion in the Camaçari complex, enabling the resumption of automotive industrial production in the state.

BYD will also create a group of local suppliers to meet the most diverse types of demand from the industry, strengthening the local economy and generating even more opportunities. Work on setting up the factory is scheduled to begin in February, with the first cars expected to be ready by the end of next year.
