The frequency of the direct flight between Portugal and China will increase from two to four times a week, a source from Turismo de Portugal confirmed to Lusa on the 21st of December.
The direct flight between the two countries departs from Lisbon to Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, one of China's most prosperous, with around 53 million inhabitants, located on the east coast of the Asian country.
The flight only operated on Thursdays and Saturdays. As of the 21st of December, it will also operate on Tuesdays and Sundays. The operation will continue to be provided by A330 aircraft.
More than 385,000 Chinese visited Portugal in 2019, the last year before the pandemic. Tourists from China spent a total of 224 million euros in the country, a 20 per cent increase on 2018, according to data from Turismo de Portugal.
