On the 21st of December, Governor João Azevêdo received representatives from the Shaanxi Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference at the João Pessoa Convention Centre. On the occasion, a letter of intent was signed that provides for economic and commercial cooperation, as well as exchange programmes for teachers and students between the government of Paraíba and the province of Shaanxi.

In addition, an invitation was formalised for a delegation from Paraíba to take part in the Xi 'an International Silk Road Tourism Festival and the International Silk Road Art Festival, with the aim of presenting the state's economic attractions to Chinese investors.

On the occasion, the head of the state executive emphasised the satisfaction of signing the letter of intent to expand relations with China in areas such as education. "The Conexão Mundo programme can be expanded with exchanges in this cooperation. We also have a partnership with China with the construction of the Bingo radio telescope," he emphasised.
