On the 26th of September, the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, received a delegation from Weichai Power, a Chinese engine manufacturer, at the Esmeraldas Palace. A world market leader, the company supplies engines for lorries of all sizes and powers and plans to bring its facilities to the city of Itumbiara, in the south of the state. Caiado's trip to China is scheduled for November, when the protocol for setting up Weichai in Goiás should be signed.

"This will totally change the concept of Goiás, it will no longer be an importer of engines, but a producer, capable of supplying the whole of Brazil," commented Caiado.

"We have no doubt that this is the best place to set up this plant due to logistical, tax and safety issues. This venture will be a differentiator not only for Goiás, but for Brazil," said Valdo Marques, vice-president of the Stemac Energy Generators Group, Weichai's partner in Brazil.
