On October 16, 2024, Ji Xianzheng, Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, led all members of the Permanent Secretariat to participate in the opening ceremony of the 29th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (29th MIF) and the Macao Franchise Expo 2024 (2024MFE). At the venue, the Permanent Secretariat set up the Exhibition on Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries to demonstrate Macao’s role in connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs). Ambassadors of Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea and São Tomé and Príncipe to China, representatives from the other PSCs’ missions to China, as well as officials from PSCs taking part in a seminar organized by the Training Center of Forum Macao in Macao and Hengqin, attended the events. 

As a partner organization of the MIF, the Permanent Secretariat has hosted the Exhibition on Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in a new mode during the events held from October 16 to 19 at Cotai Expo, The Venetian Macao. The exhibition zone has set up designated booths for nine PSCs, namely Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste. Through diverse formats such as texts, images, videos and physical products, these booths will showcase and promote the products and the investment and business operation environment of PSCs, while providing an overview of economic and trade cooperation between China and PSCs to the public, and introducing the role Forum Macao plays in fostering China-PSCs cooperation. During the events, on-site staff will offer information regarding PSCs for visitors and coordinate with PSCs for their exchange and promotion, thus creating a platform for exchange and cooperation between enterprises in China and PSCs and demonstrating the role of the Macao platform. 

At the events, the Permanent Secretariat also participated in and hosted a series of activities, including the Fujian—Macao—Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic and Trade Exchange Conference, the Shenzhen-Macao Trade and Investment Cooperation and Exchange Conference, the 14th Industrial and Commercial Summit between Jiangsu-Macao-Portuguese Speaking Countries and the Introducing Listed Zhuhai Enterprises to Macao activity, in order to strengthen exchanges between PSCs and cities in mainland China and facilitate economic and trade cooperation between Forum Macao and participating parties of the events.
