“Fusion of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” Art Photography Exhibition of 15th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries inaugurates

In order to promote cultural exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries through the Macao platform, and to implement the Strategic Plan in the field of culture, the “Fusion of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” Art Photography Exhibition, as one of the series of activities at the 15th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries organized by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, was inaugurated at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex in Macao on November 9.


The ceremony was attended by the following officiating guests: the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ji Xianzheng; the Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Liu Decheng; the Consul-General of Mozambique in Macao, Rafael Custódio Marques; the Consul-General of Angola in Macao, Eduardo Velasco Galiano; the Consul-General of Portugal in Macao, Alexandre Leitão;, the Representative of the Consul-General and Consul of the Consulate General of Brazil in Hong Kong, Ivan Seixas ; the Deputy Secretaries-General of Forum Macao, Xie Ying and Paulo Jorge do Espírito Santo; Coordinator of the Liaison Office and Representative of São Tomé and Príncipe, Gika Simão; Representative of Angola, Agostinho João António dos Santos; Representative of Guinea-Bissau, Abdú Jaquité; Representative of Mozambique, Francisca Reino; Representative of Portugal, Márcia Guerreiro; the photographer from Macao, António Leong, among others.


Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng remarked that it was a great pleasure to witness the cultural event of the “Fusion of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” Art Photography Exhibition on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Forum Macao and the 15th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. This large-scale Photography Exhibition embodies the perfect fusion of the images of China and Portuguese-speaking countries, making it a truly diverse cultural extravaganza. The public is cordially invited to come and explore this multicultural art journey together, so that all can jointly promote the cultural integration between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries through the Macao platform and enhance the friendship between the people of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.


The exhibition features 26 works of fine art photography by nine artists from eight Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao, China, including Edson Lima from Angola, Gui Martine from Brazil, Evandro Semedo from Cabo Verde, Samba Muhamad Baldé from Guinea-Bissau, Jesús Domingo Williams ldjab from Equatorial Guinea, Yassmin Forte from Mozambique, Tânia Dinis from Portugal, Valdemira Bastos Lima from São Tomé and Príncipe, and António Leong from Macao, China.


The photographers’ artworks are distinctive, diverse in style, rich in content, and sincere in emotion. They used visual imagery to narrate stories, reflect on reality, capture landscapes, focus on individuals, and highlight the friendship between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The photographers’ creative techniques are innovative, encompassing contrasts of light and shadow, distinct contours, realistic images, rich imagination, positivity and delight, and a love for peace, as well as elements of truth, goodness, and beauty.


The “Fusion of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” Art Photography Exhibition will be held at the gallery on the ground floor of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex in Macao until December 3, opening from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 7pm (closed on Mondays). Admission is free and all are welcome to visit.
