A delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macao) joined – from June 5 to June 7 – a series of promotional activities organised by the Macao SAR Government in the city of Kunming, Yunnan Province. Among these events was the ‘Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair – Kunming, Yunnan’.
The aim of the activities was to: highlight the role of Macao as a service platform; promote Forum Macao’s activities; explain the investment environment and business opportunities in Portuguese-speaking Countries; and promote trade co-operation between Yunnan Province and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
Among the Forum Macao delegation travelling to Kunming were participants in the ‘Workshop on Management of Public Administration for Portuguese-speaking Countries’, organised by the Training Centre of Forum Macao.
A ‘Seminar on Business Co-operation between Yunnan, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries’ was successfully held on June 6. The seminar took place in Kunming.
Several business people from Yunnan in the sectors of: stockbreeding; agriculture; the tea industry; medicine and biotechnology; renewable energy; culture; and finance took part in the Seminar.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to interact with those members of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao that are Representatives of Portuguese-speaking Countries.
Business matching services were also made available at the Seminar.
As part of the visit to Kunming, the delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao toured a flower market and visited the facilities of Yunnan Baiyao Group Co. Ltd.
The activities in Yunnan Province contributed to promoting more fully Forum Macao and Macao’s role as a service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. They also enabled the delegation to introduce to interested parties the business and investment environment in the Portuguese-speaking Countries, as well as the policies of those countries. This helped to promote pragmatic co-operation between companies from Mainland China – namely from Yunnan Province – and Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
During the visit, support services also were offered to companies from Mainland China interested in investing in Portuguese-Speaking Countries and in finding co-operation partners in those countries. The provision of such services are part of Macao’s role as a platform for economic and trade co-operation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.
