On December 16, the Alexandre de Gusmão platform ship left China for the Mero oil field, in the pre-salt Santos Basin. The platform, chartered by Petrobras in partnership with SBM, is a floating production, storage and transfer unit (FPSO) with the capacity to produce 180,000 barrels of oil a day, as well as compress 12 million m3 of gas a day.
The Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO is ready to receive the HISEP® (High Pressure Separator), patented by Petrobras. In this way, the unit will be able to produce with greater energy efficiency and reduce its environmental impact and emissions intensity.
The FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão will be the fifth platform to be installed in the Mero field, with production expected to start in mid-2025. The start-up of the unit will increase the current installed production capacity at Mero by 31%, to 770,000 barrels per day.
