On December 2, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD announced that it will start producing its first vehicles at its Camaçari plant in Bahia in March next year. This factory will be the world's largest and most advanced electric vehicle production plant outside of China. The information was confirmed by BYD's regional CEO, Stella Li, during a meeting with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The factory's initial target is 150,000 vehicles manufactured by the end of the first year of operation. By the end of 2026, the expectation is to double capacity, reaching 300,000 units produced and expanding the size of the workforce to 20,000.

In addition to the vehicle assembly line, BYD confirmed the development of the company's first triflex engine, capable of running on electricity, gasoline and ethanol. The announcement marks a significant step in the integration of sustainable and regional technologies.
