The president of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta, made a state visit to China between the 28th and 31st of July, being the first state visit by a president of the country since the establishment of diplomatic relations with China. During his stay, Ramos-Horta gave an exclusive interview to China Media Group (CMG).

In the interview, the president used “exemplary” or “extraordinary” to describe relations between China and East Timor. He hopes China will share its professional knowledge, skills and experience, offering not only financial help but also greater technical support. He wants to receive Chinese help in increasing agricultural production to ensure food supply and agricultural sovereignty, water supply to form better quality seeds and the use of torrential rains in agriculture and aquaculture.

Ramos-Horta said that President Xi Jinping completely agrees with his idea and promised to provide greater support to his country.
