Chinese automaker GWM has postponed the inauguration of its plant in Iracemápolis, in the state of São Paulo, scheduled for May, citing recent measures by the federal government, and now plans to launch the new plant in the second half of this year.

According to the electric vehicle manufacturer, the postponement was due to the gradual return of the import tax for electrified and hybrid vehicles, which began in January this year, and the announcement of the Mover automotive program, which aims to encourage local production of vehicles with lower pollutant emissions.

GWM do Brasil told Reuters on the 13th that it had to make an adjustment with regard to the inauguration date. Last year, after launching its first fully electric car in Brazil, the Ora 03, the automaker announced investments of 10 billion reais in the country, of which 6 billion reais over three years, until 2025.
