The Polytechnic of Leiria received the Education and Culture Prize, awarded by the Luso-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ex æquo to Huawei Technologies Portugal.

The award ceremony took place at the eighth Portugal-China gala and was attended by Catarina Rocha Ferreira, president of the Portugal-China Parliamentary Friendship Group, Zhao Bentang, ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Portugal, and Bernardo Ivo Cruz, Secretary of State for Internationalisation.

"Receiving this award is recognition of a long period of cooperation with the People's Republic of China, which has resulted in building bridges between the two countries and realising initiatives in various areas, including language and culture teaching and learning, the economic and commercial area, and the diplomatic area, among others," said Carlos Rabadão, president of the Polytechnic of Leiria.
