Exports to China drive record sales for Brazilian agribusiness until October

Stimulated by purchases from China, foreign sales by Brazilian agribusiness reached a record US$139.58 billion between January and October, 3% more than in the first ten months of last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock reported on the 14th of November.


According to the data, China was the destination for 36.6% of Brazilian agribusiness exports in the first ten months of the year, with total purchases worth US$51.1 billion.


Asia was the main geographic destination for Brazilian agroindustry products in the period, with a share of 53.4%, led by China.


The sectors that contributed most to the positive performance of exports in the period were the soy complex (US$ 4.37 billion), the sugar and alcohol complex (US$ 3.020 billion) and cereals, flours and preparations (US$ 1.82 billion).
