Portuguese Ambassador to China José Augusto Duarte has said the new Portuguese consulate in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou will open in “a matter of days”, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Duarte as saying the consulate in Guangzhou now has all the permits and staff it needs to begin functioning.
The report says the consulate in Guangzhou will be the fourth Portuguese consulate in China, the others being in Beijing, Shanghai and Macao.
The new consulate will serve the southern Chinese provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, Hunan and Fujian, and the nearby Guangxi Autonomous Region, Lusa says.
