Cape Verde’s first private hospital will be built in Praia by Macao’s Chinlumac Corporation Ltd. for healthcare company Figueiredo e Tavares, the Lusa news agency reports.
The deal was struck at last week’s Entrepreneurs Meeting for Economic Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.
A partner in the development, Emanuel Figueiredo told Lusa the work to build the large private hospital to support the tourism industry would made possible by the support of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund. He said the idea to build the hospital came after Macao businessman David Chow announced he would create a casino-resort on Santa Maria island.
The hospital project will see about 27 million euros (US$30.1 million) invested into a building of four floors with treatment areas for mothers and children, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, emergency and general medicine, surgery and support services.
