The value of the Mainland’s exports to São Tomé and Príncipe rose 76.7 percent year-on-year to US$7.6 million in 2016.

The São Tomé and Príncipe National Institute of Statistics says imports from Mainland weighed 3,350 tonnes or about 5.6 percent of all imports.

The Macauhub website reports that the leading imports from Mainland included tea, coffee, plastics, textiles, clothing, footwear, glass and zinc cladding.

Bilateral trade is forecast to increase again this year after the resumption of official diplomatic ties in December.
