Central Government foreign affairs official takes up Macao post

Ye Dabo has been appointed Commissioner of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macao, local newspaper Macau Daily Times reported on Tuesday.

Mr Ye has been one of the top officials working at China’s General Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group. He will replace Hu Zhengyue in Macao by the end of the month.

According to the Macau Daily Times, Mr Ye joined China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986, and has since held posts in Taiwan and the United States.

The new Macao Commissioner has also spent time in the Commonwealth of Dominica, in Sri Lanka and in the Maldives, after being promoted into the General Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group in 1997, the newspaper added.
