Adelino Manuel Muchanga, President of the Supreme Court of Mozambique, recently received Zheng Xuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mozambique, for a courtesy meeting aimed at strengthening the long-standing co-operation between Mozambique and China, as well as between the judiciaries of the two countries.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review the state of co-operation between the judicial authorities of the two countries, identify further areas of common interest and assess the challenges to its expansion. The two sides reviewed the Memorandum of Co-operation signed between the Mozambican and Chinese judiciaries, which is aimed at facilitating the sharing of information in the field of information and communications technology.

On the occasion, Muchanga noted that China was not only an important economic partner of Mozambique, but also an important partner in the field of justice. He added that, in recent years, the Mozambican judiciary had maintained contacts with its Chinese counterpart, particularly in the area of technology, in which Chinese courts were at an advanced stage of development.
