Last week in Brasilia, Brazilian Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, welcomed a delegation led by Huang Yehua, Board Chair of Brazil-China Science and Technology Innovation Center (BCI). The meeting focused on strengthening Brazil-China co-operation in strategic areas such as energy transition, artificial intelligence, technological innovation and industrial modernisation, further reinforcing a growing partnership that is increasingly relevant to the scientific and economic development of both countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities to expand joint research, strengthen industrial co-operation and accelerate projects focused on clean energy, digital transformation, advanced manufacturing and technological development. The dialogue also highlighted the role of innovation as a tool for increasing the productivity of Brazilian industry and enhancing its competitiveness in sectors considered strategic for the economy of the future.
Established as one of the concrete outcomes of the rapprochement between the Brazilian and Chinese governments following the meeting between Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Xi Jinping in 2024, the BCI began its operations in 2025 and has been consolidating its position as one of the main platforms for scientific co-operation between the two countries.
