The University of São Paulo (USP) has taken an important step towards closer Brazil-China relations with the inauguration of the USP-China Center. The ceremony, held on March 21 in the University City, was attended by various authorities and academics, such as the Consul General of China in São Paulo, Yu Peng, the rector of USP, Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Jr. and the director of the USP-China Center, Ricardo Trindade, among others.

Ricardo Trindade explains that the Center is “a hub for exchanges with China”. “It's a space to develop joint academic research, but also a place to promote Chinese culture in Brazil,” he explains.

Directly linked to the Rector's Office, the USP-China Center will play a strategic role in managing and expanding cooperation agreements between USP and Chinese institutions, boosting research, academic partnerships and projects in various areas of knowledge. Currently, USP already has around 40 existing academic cooperation agreements with China, as well as projects developed with Chinese companies such as Huawei.
