On October 18, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China inaugurated the first library at Hope School, in district of Lobata, São Tomé and Príncipe, with the aim of encouraging reading and promoting access to information and cultural knowledge for the students and teachers at the school.
This is the first time that the Hope School has had a library since it was founded on January 13, 2003, as a result of the educational cooperation between China and São Tomé and Príncipe that has existed for several years.
The Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, Hu Bin, said that the Chinese Embassy is committed to the educational undertakings in São Tomé and Príncipe. The inauguration of the library of the Hope School is the first activity that the embassy in São Tomé is carrying out after the China-Africa Summit, where the education was one of the themes of the Sino-African modernization project.
