On October 10, a consortium led by the Chinese company Dingsheng Port signed a 15 years franchise agreement with the Mozambican government for the development of the Chongoene Port Terminal, located in Gaza province. The contract was formalized with the presence of the Mozambican Minister of Transport and Communications and the vice-president of Sociedade Terminal de Minérios de Chongoene.
The cooperation involves the construction of a port terminal and a railway line of approximately 73 kilometers, linking the region between Chibuto and Chókwè. An important aspect of the project is the supply of daily water and energy for local communities, which aims to promote social development in the area.
The partnership between Dingsheng Port and Mozambique Railways (CFM) marks an significant step forward in the Mozambican infrastructure, allowing the exclusive development of the port infrastructure for handling and storing heavy concentrate.
