MCTI and Chinese Academy of Sciences sign memorandum of understanding for scientific cooperation

This week, the acting Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luis Manuel Rebelo Fernandes, and the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ding Chibiao, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Brasilia for cooperation in science, technology and innovation between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federative Republic of Brazil (MCTI) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) of the People's Republic of China.


The memorandum establishes a set of bilateral actions in relation to research and innovation. The activities include research between public and private academic institutions in the two countries, especially research units linked to the MCTI and CAS; exchanges between scientists; the organization of seminars and the creation of joint research teams and laboratories.


The minister, Luis Fernandes, said that cooperation between the two countries in the area of science and technology is extensive and the MCTI's desire is to expand all channels of cooperation. Both Brazil and China are interested in exploring all the possibilities of cooperation with China.
