On September 20, the 51st Congress of the International Academy of Ceramics, which took place last week in Alcobaça and Caldas da Rainha, ended with the passing of the baton to the secretary of municipal Party committee of Jingdezhen, Hu Xuemei. As the capital of porcelain, Jingdezhen will host the next edition of the event in 2026.
At the closing ceremony, a Portuguese representative handed over a Barcelos Rooster to the Chinese delegation, as the symbol of the start of the International Academy of Ceramics Congress of Jingdezhen.
In the closing speech, the mayor of Caldas, Vitor Marques, recalled the historical connection between Portugal and China, which is also based on ceramics. The mayor wished that this passing of the baton would also mean a relationship of friendship between the two cities.
