Chinese investment in Brazil registered a significant growth of 33% in 2023, totaling US$ 1.73 billion, with emphasis on the electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors. Despite the slight reduction in the number of projects, the volume of capital invested reached one of the highest levels since 2007.

The energy sector was the main destination of these resources, with 39% of the total invested directed towards renewable sources such as wind, solar and hydroelectric energy.

The electric automotive sector saw a 56% increase in investments. From 2021 onwards, all Chinese endeavors within the Brazilian automotive sector have centred around the manufacturing of electrified automobiles. Notably, Great Wall Motors (GWM) and BYD have both directed their efforts towards producing electric and hybrid vehicles.
