The Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, and the Chinese ambassador to Brazil, Zhu Qingqiao, met at Palácio do Planalto on August 12, to discuss how to improve Brazil-China diplomatic relations through new measures.
According to Minister Costa, a working group involving the Civil House, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Chinese Embassy, as well as other departments, such as Finance, will be officially formed by next week to establish the lines and axes of the Brazilian government's priorities. Areas of focus include artificial intelligence, infrastructure and energy transition.
The ambassador also reiterated the interest in bringing even greater dynamism to relations between the two countries. “Now it is time to identify strategic areas and priorities in our cooperation," stated Zhu Qingqiao, highlighting as very positive the existence of the Sino-Brazilian High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Commission (COSBAN), “a mechanism that shows the great dimension we already have ”.
