Tobacco from Brazil is ready to be exported to China

The Interstate Tobacco Industry Union (SindiTabaco) concluded on August 9, in Santa Cruz do Sul, the meetings and the pre-inspection period for tobacco from the 2023/24 harvest, in order for it to be shipped to China. This action is among the requirements of the bilateral trade protocol between the two countries.


The representative of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply confirmed that “no pests were found in the samples collected. China is one of our largest tobacco importers and this partnership is essential for maintaining business between our countries. We are sure that we will continue to evolve this relationship.”


The president of SindiTabaco, Iro Schünke, reinforced the importance of China for the Brazilian tobacco sector. “China, is our second largest importer (behind only Belgium).”


The representative of the General Administration of Customs of the Republic of China (GACC) demonstrated her satisfaction with the final result of the pre-inspection, signaling that shipments should be released as soon as possible.
