Trade between China, Portuguese-speaking Countries tops US$92.382 bln in January-May 2024

Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$92.382 billion in the period from January to May 2024. It represented a 12.93 percent increase year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$58.352 billion to China in the first five months of 2024 – an increase of 11.15 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$34.030 billion in the same period, up 16.11 percent year-on-year.


The total value of merchandise traded in May between the parties topped US$20.301 billion, a decrease of 2.30 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$12.097 billion, down 17.92 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$8.204 billion in May, an increase of 35.81 percent compared with the previous year.
