The Umbeluzi Agricultural Technology Transfer Center (CITTAU), built by the Chinese government, is responsible for transmitting cultivation techniques for 10 varieties of rice, 21 varieties of corn, two varieties of cotton and 20 varieties of vegetables. Since 2011, the initiative has been producing impressive results in the development of agricultural activity in the Boane district, Maputo province, enabling farmers to harvest crops with high levels of yield.

The transfer of Chinese technology to Mozambican farmers has enabled an average yield of 6,750 kilograms of corn per hectare (Kg/ha), four times greater than local production; cabbage production, to 75 thousand kg/ha; and rice from three to nine tons per hectare.

“Last year alone, we were assisting 350 farmers from different associations, and all of them are satisfied with the production they obtain," said the deputy director of CITTAU, Razunia Saveca.
