The University of Macau says it will launch this year the Chinese-Portuguese translation service developed by its Natural Language Processing and Chinese-Portuguese Machine Translation Laboratory.
The university says in a written announcement that the laboratory has finished trials of the translation system and will put a test version into service.
The statement says the University of Macau and universities in Portugal, Brazil and mainland China, including Tsinghua University, have worked together closely to give the results of their research into Chinese-Portuguese translation a practical application for use in the Guangdong-Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
The University of Macau has also developed the first Chinese-Portuguese translating machine in Macao, the announcement says.
