Flightparts Component Services Co. Ltd of China has bought an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Brazil from TAP Maintenance & Engineering of Portugal, Aviation Week reports.

The magazine quotes a spokesman for Flightparts as saying the company means to invest heavily in modernising the facility, in the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, to expand and complement the its capabilities, particularly in the landing gear business.

The report says the Porto Alegre facility is used mainly to maintain, repair and overhaul airliner landing gear, along with airliner engines, auxiliary power units and avionics.

TAP Maintenance & Engineering stopped operating in Brazil in January and Flightparts took over its business there the following month, renaming the business Flightparts Brazil, Aviation Week says.
