Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd has introduced in Brazil Huawei Cloud, a cloud computing service backed by artificial intelligence, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes a Huawei manager, Erik Schanz, as saying Huawei Cloud is ready to compete in Brazil with rival US services bearing the Microsoft, Amazon and Google brand names.

The report quotes Mr Schanz as saying during a presentation in São Paulo on Thursday that Huawei has introduced its cloud computing service in 11 different parts of the world, including two countries in Latin America: Mexico and Chile.

The capacity of Huawei Cloud to store massive amounts of data may prove useful for novel applications on logistics , telemedicine, intelligent homes, and augmented or virtual reality, enabled by the introduction in Brazil of fifth-generation (5G) wireless telecommunications, Xinhua quotes a written statement issued by Huawei as saying.
