A party of medical staff from the southwestern Chinese province of
Sichuan has arrived at the Agostinho Neto Hospital in the Cape Verdean
capital, Praia, to assist the hospital with its work, A Nação reports.
The
Cape Verdean newspaper says the assistance is a manifestation of a
Sino-Cape Verdean agreement to co-operate in health matters which was
signed last October.
The report quotes Cape Verdean Minister of
Parliamentary Affairs Fernando Elísio Freire as saying: “China has been
co-operating with our country in a number of areas, especially in the
area of health, and has been a very important partner for Cape Verde.”
The minister thanked the visiting Chinese for their contribution to the improvement of the performance of the hospital.
