People’s Bank of China Governor of Zhou Xiaochuan says the Mainland’s economy is on course to hit the growth target of 6.5 percent set by the government for this year, Xinhua reports citing a statement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Zhou has made the remarks when attending the IMF’s spring meetings.
The government-run news agency, ci from the International Monetary Fund, quotes Mr Zhou as saying: “As the growth of investment and trade has stabilised and recovered, consumption has grown steadily and employment has remained broadly stable. The expected 6.5 percent growth for this year is within reach.”
Mr Zhou says monetary policy will remain “prudent and neutral” and the Government would continue to “push forward reforms on all fronts”, Xinhua reports.
